Ayurveda, Sanskrit for the "science of life", is India's 5,000-year-old medical system. It is commonly referred to as Yoga's sister science, as both are rooted in the ancient Vedic tradition.
Yoga teaches us how to balance our mind, while Ayurveda teaches us how to balance our body through the use of food, herbs, and living in harmony with nature.
The latter is most important during times of seasonal transition when we are encouraged to modify our diet, lifestyle, and even our Yoga practice to adapt to the changes happening around us.
In this 2-hour workshop, we will learn the foundations of Ayurveda and its unique tri-dosha approach. We will then focus on diet and lifestyle routines specific for the spring (Kapha) season. Special attention will be paid to detoxification practices and why spring is the best season for detox.
Handouts of class material will be provided. No prior knowledge or experience with Ayurveda is necessary.
